Extra Income Planner
Living paycheck to paycheck can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re a stay-at-home mom trying to stretch every dollar while caring for your family. If you’ve ever wished you had just a little more breathing room, you are not alone.
That’s exactly why I created the Extra Income Planner — a printable planner designed to help moms create a realistic, flexible plan for earning extra money from home without burnout.
With this Extra Income Planner, you’ll have the printables that you need to write down your monthly income goal, brainstorm ways you can make extra money this year, and track what you accomplish each month and how much money you bring in. You can change your financial situation, even if you are starting small! Don’t under-estimate $100/month that you can set aside!

Why You Need a Plan (Not Just More Hustle)
Most moms don’t fail at making extra money — they fail because they don’t have a clear plan.
A plan gives you:
- Direction instead of overwhelm
- Focus instead of trying everything
- Motivation when life gets busy
- Proof of what actually works
The Extra Income Planner helps you move from “I hope this works” to “I know exactly what I’m working on this month.” My planner gives you simple steps to take action on! Invest in yourself!

I’m a stay-at-home mom, and I’ve been able to bring in some side income for the last 10 years. Keep in mind that how much time you have for earning extra money at home is very dependent on what stage of life you’re in….whether or not you have childcare or grandparents to watch the kids for a day a week while you focus on work….what ages your kids are….there are so many factors, and you should only commit to what works for you and your family!

What extra income can do:
From 2018-2022, extra income helped supplement our family’s income.
In 2022, we started setting the side income aside to have for major expenses…..
In 2023, extra income paid for our family’s new van.
In 2024, extra income purchased flooring, paint, furniture, etc. for the fixer upper we bought.
In 2025, extra income continued to fund home renovations.
In 2026, my goal is that my extra income will pay for a kitchen renovation!

And I did this without working full-time — just by being intentional with a simple plan.
Here’s a video of my extra income planner for this year – I’m taking January to really plan and brainstorm so that the rest of the year I can reach my goals. ⬇️
What can you do to earn extra income?
There are SO many ways. You need to find out what is reasonable for you….and what you enjoy and can succeed at.
When I first started out, I was on Etsy at the same time that I started blogging. I worked at night when my kids went to bed and that worked for me in the stage I was in. Both of those income avenues were slow to start but eventually ramped up! Etsy eventually brought in about $1,000/month until Covid hit. (I sold digital invitations and people were just not having parties and showers anymore.)
Selling digital products on Etsy didn’t take much of my time at all, and it did bring in a pretty good haul during its course. ⬇️

Blogging is another great way to earn extra money on your own time! Just be aware that you need a good solid year of posting content and getting traffic to your site before you can make any money on it.
On the site that my sisters and I share (Six Clever Sisters), it took a couple of years to be able to grow it enough to apply to an ad management company. Once you get there though, that’s side income coming in monthly at a good rate! ⬇️

There are other things to do that don’t require you to be online quite as much. For instance, find out which day is the best day for your local thrift store, and go in weekly to see what you can find and resell. If I saw a Dutch oven, for example, I’d know that I can get it perfectly clean to look like new and sell it on Facebook marketplace. Maybe there are some Nikes there that just need cleaned up. How about flipping furniture (that’s one of my money-makers! 👋🏼)?
Is there something you are an expert in that you could offer coaching for? Maybe you could tutor one day a week? Other options like selling baked goods from home, sewing/mending, or in-home babysitting are great if you can’t get out too often. If you have the option to leave one or two days a week, consider Instacart, home cleaning, or running errands for people.
If you’re tech savvy, think about training to be a VA (managing bloggers’ Pinterest accounts, email, etc.) or starting an Etsy shop or blog.
Whatever things you choose need to be things that you are comfortable with and feel that you will enjoy doing them. If you love doing your work, you’ll put yourself into it and succeed!

How the Extra Income Planner Works:
Step 1: Set a Clear Income Goal
Write down how much extra money you want to earn monthly – having a goal will force you to push yourself a bit. This Extra Income Planner is set up to help you get some things written down and planned so that you can make the extra money that you want to!
Step 2: Track Every Dollar
Log what you make, what you worked on, and how long it took — so you can see what’s profitable. One thing may work better than another, and you’ll have to decide what is worth your time. If you have to spend any of your side hustle income, mark that down, too.
I give to my church and to missions any time I make a profit, so I will always have a “spend” on my monthly tracker. Remember, this is flexible and you should do what you think is best!
Step 3: Build Small Habits
Even 10–20 minute increments add up when you’re consistent. One of my goals is to flip one piece of furniture every month – it sounds simple, but my spare time is very limited, so it ends up trickier to make happen than I would hope. However…I can get into a habit of going to the garage after dinner and giving even just 15 minutes toward the next step on a piece. Don’t under-estimate the value of 10-20 minute increments!
